Shri B.C.Tripathi is a Mechanical Engineering Graduate from NIT Allahabad and graduated in 1982. He started his carreer in Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and subsequently joined Gas Authority of India Limited (now GAIL India Limited) in 1984 when the Gas Industry in India was at its infancy. Shri Tripathi is one of the founder employee of GAIL and has worked under different capacities in different departments in GAIL. Further he has been involved in the execution of several prestigious projects of GAIL starting from the HVJ to the recently concluded Dahej-Dabhol Pipeline. He was the project Manager for the GAILs prestigious Dahej-Vijaipur Pipeline project, which received Silver Medal for Excellence in project Management in the Mega Project Category from International Project Management Association, Germany. He has also published a case study on this project in Petromin Pipeliner. Over the past 27 years Shri Tripathi gained varied experience and competence in the areas related to Operation & Maintenance of Pipelines, Project Management, Contracts Management, Customer Relationship Management, Marketing etc.

Shri M. Ravindran , is a Mechanical Engineer and a Post Graduate in Management and brings to the GAIL Board, over 33 years of rich and diverse experience in the Fertilizer and Oil & Gas industries, particularly in gas transmission, petrochemicals and City Gas Distribution sectors.
Prior to his appointment as Director (HR), GAIL Shri Ravindran served as Managing Director of Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (IGL), a Joint Venture of GAIL & BPCL and the largest supplier of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in Delhi and National Capital Region. He also has the distinction of being the first CEO of GAIL’s wholly owned subsidiary, GAIL Gas Limited from 2008 to 2011.
Shri Ravindran joined GAIL in 1990 and has been associated with a number of prestigious projects of the Company including the commissioning activities of GAIL’s first integrated petrochemical plant at Pata, U.P and later headed Operations of HVJ, GAIL’s first cross country high pressure natural gas pipeline, Dahej Vijaipur Pipeline and other associated spur pipelines, besides Company’s largest LPG recovery units at Vijaipur in Madhya Pradesh.
As MD, IGL, he was instrumental in undertaking several business and HR centric initiatives including formulation of HR Policies and adoption of a robust Performance Management System.
During his tenure as CEO of the wholly owned GAIL subsidiary, GAIL Gas Limited, he steered the formulation of the company’s business policies, particularly those in the Human Resources domain. It was during his tenure that the Company participated in the CGD first round of bidding and won the licenses for the cities of Sonepat, Kota, Dewas & Meerut under the regulatory regime.
Dr. Ashutosh Karnatak
Dr. Ashutosh Karnatak is an M. Tech from IIT Delhi, an MBA in Finance and a Ph.D. from University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Dehradun, Dr. Karnataka is presently pursuing Post-Doctorate in Business Administration on ‘Organizational Maturity in Project Management’ He is a multi-talented personality who has developed innovative techniques and authored books on varied subjects. He is a B Tech in Electrical Engineering from HBTI, Kanpur.
Prior to his appointment as Director (Projects), Dr. Karnatak served as Executive Director (Projects) in GAIL. During his rich career span of over 30 years, he has managed diverse infrastructure projects such as construction of cross country trunk pipelines like Dabhol – Bangalore, Dahej-Vijaipur, Dahej-Uran, Dabhol-Panvel, CGD networks in Mumbai, R-LNG terminal at Dabhol, and building projects like, LPG gas processing plant at Gandhar, besides spearheading wind and solar energy projects.
He has authored books on oil and gas sector (Asian Gas Grid – A critical analysis of its feasibility), project management (Project Management of Hydrocarbon Pipelines – A Journey) and self-development (Yes! You Can; Words Have Power). He is the proponent of the movement called PI-PI-CI (“Positive India – Projectised India – Competent India”). He has developed an innovative Project Monitoring and Controlling technique called ‘Arjuna – (MC4E2)ec’, and capability building model named ‘BeDoPhe’. Besides this, he has avid interest in astrology and is engaged in a number of social and developmental initiatives.
Shri Subir Purkayastha
A Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary by professional qualification, Shri Subir Purkayastha has a rich experience of nearly 30 years’ in the areas of Corporate Finance and Treasury including Forex Risk Management, Capital Budgeting, Corporate Budgets, Corporate Accounts, Finalization of Long Term LNG and Gas Agreements, Liquefaction and Regasification Terminal Service Agreement., shareholders Agreements and Joint Ventures Agreement etc.
Prior to his appointment as Director (Finance), he held the position of Executive Director (Finance & Accounts) in GAIL. As Executive Director (Finance), besides heading Corporate Finance and Treasury section in large mobilisation of funds from domestic and international markets and taking investment decisions in large infrastructure projects, he was also actively involved in Investor relations and interactions with Analysts fraternity. Besides serving a long tenure at the GAIL corporate office, he was on secondment to Petronet LNG Ltd., during its formative years from 1998 to 2002. Thereafter, he was posted at GAIL’s largest manufacturing unit viz petrochemical plant at Pata, U.P. for 4 years. It was during his stint in Petrochemicals Unit at GAIL, Pata he introduced e-budget for preparation and control of capital and revenue budget of the Unit.
Additionally, Shri Subir Purkayastha also holds the position of Director in GAIL Gas (USA) Inc., Ratnagiri Gas and Power Pvt. Ltd (RGPPL) and TAPI Pipeline Company Limited. He joined GAIL in 1985 as a Finance officer and rose to the position of Director. Having joined in the early stages of the company he was part and parcel of the growth trajectory of the company.

In a long and distinguished career spanning nearly four decades, he held senior positions with the Supreme Audit Institution of India as well as with the Government of India and also Internationally.
He worked as Assistant Auditor General with the Government of Botswana for 5 years and as a World Bank Consultant to the Auditor General, Nepal for over one year.
Presently a visiting faculty with the National Institute of Financial Management (NIFM), Faridabad; he has earlier taught at the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University.
Has experience in working with the International Organisations having audited UNEP and also having worked with the IT Audit Committee of INTOSAI.
Has long experience in training; as a faculty member for 5 years at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, as Director, National Academy of Audit and Accounts, Shimla, as Director General, International Center for Information Systems and Audit, NOIDA and as Director, NIFM, Faridabad. He was invited by the Auditor General, Maldives to train their officers for a duration of two weeks.

BIRTH & FAMILY BACKGROUND:
Sanjay Tandon was born in 1963 at Amritsar in the highly cultured and religious Tandon family. The spirit of Patriotism was steeped into his character by the atmosphere in the house. His father, Sh. Balramji Dass Tandon, was a part of the freedom struggle and continues to work for social upliftment, and one of the founder members of the Jan Sangh.
Sanjay Tandon did his schooling at Amritsar.
After completing B. Com (Hons) from Panjab University, he became a Chartered Accountant in 1986 and a Cost Accountant in 1988.
In 1987, he got married to Priya, who is the daughter of late Justice Madan Mohan Punchhi, Former Chief Justice of India.
After completing his studies, Sanjay Tandon started practicing as a Chartered Accountant. After that he started the work of Share Broking, Commodity Broking and Insurance Broking. Presently he is also running a Call Centre in which about 4000 people are employed.

Sanjay Tandon has also written the Biography of his father titled, ‘Balramji Dass Tandon – Ek Prerak Charitra.’ This book was released on 17th August 2009 by former Deputy Prime Minister and the then Leader of Opposition, Sh. Lal Krishan Advaniji. The book release programme was presided over by the Chief Minister of Punjab Sh. Parkash Singh Badal and was attended by many other leaders of the National and State Fame.

SERVICE TO THE SOCIETY:
Sanjay Tandon has always been a philanthropist. With the Inspiration of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Sanjay has set up a charitable foundation called Competent Foundation, whose motto is ‘Help Ever, Hurt Never.’ This foundation is helping some poor patients for surgery and other medical treatment in PGI and other hospitals. A Langar (community feeding) for the poor, education for slum children and bi-annual blood donation camps are also some of the activities of this foundation.
