The household use of PNG has picked up in India especially with multiple use of natural gas in the houses. PNG can be used for cooking, water heating, space heating, air conditioning, refrigeration and power generation. The concept of a single switch solution in the household sector is picking up momentum. This concept provides that a household could be a self-contained gas user to meet all its energy needs in one go.

GAIL and its CGD Joint Venture Companies / Subsidiaries have provided PNG connections for around 40.94 Lakhs households. It is pertinent to note that GAIL and its CGD JVCs / Subsidiaries are currently providing approximately 66% of the total PNG connections in India.

CCost and supply of energy can play a significant role in industrial operations. Industries require a continuous and reliable natural gas supply which can provide better efficiency and economy. A broad range of industries like Chemicals, Food Processing, Engineering Goods, Power Generation, Glass Industries etc. are using Industrial PNG. Gas is used by these industries for application like Heating - Boiler, Thermic Fluid Heater, Furnace; Cooling- Absorption Chiller; Power- Gas Engine and Gas Turbine; Process- for dryers, furnace, oven etc.

वाणिज्यिक पीएनजी

In the commercial sector, PNG has been found to be very useful in applications like cooking, air conditioning and power generation. The quality of services plays a significant role in the commercial sector. This customer oriented segment comprises of Hotels, Restaurants, Hospitals, Dairies, Bakeries, Cold Storages, Malls, Shopping Complexes, Shops, Educational institutes, Hostels etc. Major applications of PNG in this category are in kitchens, ovens, boilers, geysers, refrigerators etc. Some Complexes, offices, malls use PNG for power generation and Air Conditioning also.

There is thus no hassle of handling, refilling and changing of cylinders. The uninterrupted supply of the natural gas as fuel to the commercial units helps them to provide better quality of service to its customers. When compared with other available alternative fuels like commercial LPG, PNG is cheaper. Further, GAIL and its CGD Joint Venture Companies / Subsidiaries are supplying PNG to over 11108 commercial units.

अतुलनीय सुविधा

  • एलपीजी सिलेंडरों की बुकिंग और इसकी डिलीवरी के लिए लम्बी प्रतीक्षा सूची की परेशानी से मुक्ति । किसी रिसाव अथवा डिलीवरी के दौरान कम वज़न होने की आशंका के लिए एलपीजी रिफिल सिलेंडर की रुटीन और उबाऊ जांच से मुक्ति । एलपीजी सिलेंडर जोड़ने और हटाने की असुविधा की समाप्ति और सिलेंडर द्वारा घेरे जाने वाले स्थान की बचत ।

किफायती

  • इस क्षेत्र के अन्य ईंधनों की अपेक्षा प्राकृतिक गैस अधिक किफायती है ।

सेफ्टी

  • संकीर्ण ज्वलन रेंज होने के कारण पीएनजी सर्वाधिक सुरक्षित ईंधनों में से एक है । प्राकृतिक गैस और वायु का दहन योग्य मिश्रण यदि 5% से कम है तो ज्वलन नहीं होगा । इसके जलने के लिए वायु-ईंधन मिश्रण अनुपात 15% से अधिक होना चाहिए ।
  • प्राकृतिक गैस वायु से हल्की है । अत: रिसाव की स्थिति में पर्याप्‍त खुली जगह होने पर शीघ्रता से हवा में विसर्जित हो जाती है ।
  • पीएनजी की सप्लाई अत्यंत कम दाब पर पाइपलाइन के द्वारा की जाती है । अत: यह अपेक्षाकृत सुरक्षित प्रणाली है जिसमें परिसर के अंतर्गत प्राकृतिक गैस की मात्रा बहुत कम रहती है ।
  • आग लगने की दशा में रसोई के अंदर और बाहर लगे वाल्व को बंद करके पीएनजी की सप्लाई को रोका जा सकता है ।
  • चूंकि प्राकृतिक गैस गंधहीन होती है, अत: वितरण से पूर्व इसमें इथाइल मरकाप्‍टन (एक रसायन जिसकी गंध सल्‍फर जैसी होती है) नामक रसायन का मिश्रण किया जाता है । इसकी गंध एलपीजी की तरह होती है और रिसाव की स्थिति में वायुमंडल में गंध से इसकी पहचान एक सुरक्षा उपाय के रूप में काम करती है ।

विविधता

  • बहु उपयोगी होने के कारण प्राकृतिक गैस को कई मुख्य शहरों में प्रमुखता से घरेलू और वाणिज्यिक अनुप्रयोगों जैसे खाना पकाने, पानी गर्म करने, जगह को गर्म रखने और वातानुकूलन आदि के लिए बहुमुखी ईंधन के तौर पर प्रयेाग किया जा रहा है ।

पाइप प्राकृतिक गैस (पीएनजी) : शहर गैस वितरण प्रणाली में शहर के अंदर भूमिगत पाइपलाइन वितरण नेटवर्क द्वारा विविध अनुप्रयोगों के लिए प्राकृतिक गैस की आपूर्ति विभिन्न उपभोक्ताओं को की जाती है ।.
